I Get No Respect (the Day After the V.P. Debate)

Initial reports suggest that the debate last night ended in a draw, which from a journalistic point of view, is the safest bet in a highly charged election year: it lets you remain 'objective' which at this point is a lost cause. In any case, MSNBC, Slate, and a few other 'lefty' newsies have insisted that Edwards cleaned Cheney's clock and I do have to say, after reading the transcript (I find watching the personal pyrotechnics on televised debates distracting from the meat of the matter) Edwards pulled a remarkable coup d'etat. Those Clintonistas really helped the Democratic nominees come out swinging. Hopefully enough people are staying tuned in to the debates because one more night like last night and Kerry's debate might actually pull off an amazing comeback. If you would like to read the transcript of the debate from last night here you go.
In case you feel like gloating a little here's the Slate take on things. A note: William Saletan, the chief editor has been sitting on the fence throughout this whole campaign wanting to be a Democratic but feeling too unenthused by the prospects and too committed to Bush's 'security' agenda (um...what exactly is that? Tom Ridge?). He's sounding a little more convinced that Bush-Cheney might really be dumber than a bag of hammers.
And here's another one from Slate.
And last, but not least, a tribute to one of my favorite folks in showbiz and a mini-icon, the late, great Rodney "I get no Respect" Dangerfield.
Viva la revolucion!
